Schneider Electric, a French automation and energy management giant, recently announced that it will invest more than $700 million in the United States to expand its manufacturing and distribution network and further enhance its supply chain capabilities. The funds will be distributed to multiple sites in Texas, Tennessee, Ohio, Massachusetts and Missouri, including new medium-voltage equipment plants, innovation centers and robotics laboratories. With this move, Schneider expects to add more than 1,000 jobs and push its total investment in the United States to more than $1 billion in ten years.
This round of investment directly points to the high growth trend of smart manufacturing and warehouse automation. Schneider also showcased its EcoStruxure Automation Expert platform at the recent Automate 2025 exhibition. The industrial copilot launched in cooperation with Microsoft further promotes the implementation of the concept of "open, software-defined automation". In the current wave of warehouse automation, Schneider's expansion means that it has the ability to respond more promptly to the growing demand for smart picking, dynamic inventory management, AGV and robotic systems in the Chinese and American markets.
Emerson: Building an integrated automation hub with "Project Beyond"
At the same time, the US industrial giant Emerson is not far behind. Through its "Project Beyond" platform, it aims to build a software-defined, OT-ready enterprise-level automation system to meet the challenges of data silos and complex system integration in warehousing and production.
The platform includes:
Software-defined control and data management layer
Zero-trust network security protection
Artificial intelligence module and contextual data association
Emerson said that Project Beyond can help companies quickly integrate intelligent automation, edge computing and AI into warehousing operations without the need to tear down and rebuild existing facilities, and achieve real-time monitoring, intelligent scheduling and predictive optimization, which is in line with the current emphasis on "input-output ratio" and "process efficiency" improvement in warehousing automation.
In addition, Emerson is also laying out in the strategic fields of battery energy storage system (BESS) and AI energy management, launching Ovation Green BESS software to enhance the control of energy scheduling and life management in smart warehousing.
