1.Axial (thrust) position monitoring-The probe measures how far the shaft moves in the axial direction. If the thrust bearing wears and the rotor drifts, the system alarms or trips the machine before the rotating parts hit the casing or seals.

2. Differential expansion (ramp) measurement on steam turbines-Installed near the governor end, it watches the gap between rotor and casing as the unit heats up or cools down. This protects the machine from rubbing when the two parts grow at different rates.

3. Rod position or rod-drop on reciprocating compressors-Mounted beside the cross-head, the probe tracks how much the piston rod sags or shifts. Early warning lets you schedule packing or rider-ring replacement before efficiency drops or a crash occurs.
