v Application

1.Axial (thrust) position on large steam & gas turbines-The 11 mm tip gives 4 mm (180 mil) linear range—almost double the 8 mm probe—so it can watch the whole thrust float without re-ranging. If the rotor drifts toward the compressor or turbine end, the 3500/42 monitor alarms or trips the machine before the thrust bearing wipes.

2.Differential-expansion (ramp) measurement on steam turbines-Mounted opposite the governor-end shoulder, it tracks how much the rotor grows relative to the casing during start-up or shut-down. Early warning prevents axial rubbing when the two parts expand at different rates.

3.Rod-position / rod-drop on reciprocating compressors-Installed sideways at the cross-head, it measures how far the piston rod sags or shifts. A drop larger than the packing clearance triggers an alarm, letting you schedule rider-ring replacement before efficiency falls or a crash occurs.
