Product summary

1783-ETAP – This Allen-Bradley Stratix “copper tap” is a palm-size 3-port EtherNet/IP junction made for Device Level Ring (DLR) networks. It gives you two RJ45 ring ports that auto-negotiate 10/100 Mbps and a third front “device” port for a laptop or PLC, all while passing line-rate traffic and keeping ring-heal times under 3 ms when it’s the supervisor. Powered from any 24 V DC source, the 11 × 14 × 16 cm DIN-rail block runs 0 – 60 °C, needs no fans, and is configured in under five minutes with RSLinx or a web browser—just set the three DIP switches and you’re done. Use it to add a new drive, camera or HMI to an existing DLR without breaking the ring, or let it act as a low-cost media-converter when you plug the fiber variants (ETAP1F/2F) into the same housing.
